Zeni Geva reunite.......

in
with Tatsuya Yoshida(Ruins), for their first tour in 7 years. Here are some quotes from a recent interview conducted by Jame-world.com:
Quote:
KK: Now, I’m very happy and positive about the future of ZENI GEVA. We haven’t recorded any new songs yet because we’ve only just re-formed the band. But even if we’re still playing our old songs, they sound different, thanks to the arrangements and improvisations by Yoshida. It’s like we’re doing something new.
Quote:
Let’s move on to your future projects. Can we hope for a new album by ZENI GEVA soon? KK: Yes, I hope so. With Tatsuya Yoshida? KK: Yes, of course. But we’ll see. We didn’t have the time to get together in a studio before the tour. When we come back, I hope we’ll have the time to get closer, musically and personally.
^^^New Zeni Geva album? DAMN!!!! I'm psyched. Let's hope for the best :-)

he's interested but the silly bugger will only pay so much which is why he still hasn't got it. my attitude, as you know, is if you want something you buy it regardless.

I'd say that Zeni Geva got

I'd say that Zeni Geva got more progressive on each release. I didn't like Desire for Agony at first because I thought that there was not much going on, but it grew on me a lot. I'm not sure I really want to check them out before that album, because I think I prefer the Freedom Bondage style a bit more.

Am I not allowed to talk about them anymore, then? Can I suggest that it's time for you to "move on" and stop explaining why you don't like Matter of Life and Death, in that case?
the key difference is that i actually like Maiden ;-) But yes, fair point.

^^Z.G are way more

^^Z.G are way more abstract/interesting than early Swans IMO. Early Swans is fucking shit. I could just as easily say the reason early Swans is liked is because it's 'cult'. The musicianship is practically nonexistent. I don't care what Infant thinks. I hate most Japanese pop and underground culture anyway. The last artist from Japan i liked was Takeshi Kitano, and that was before the West caught onto him. Each to their own Richie. If you don't like them, that's cool. You gave them a shot, now it's time to move on. '10,000 Light Years' is my personal favourite of theirs anyway.

Casual assumption that we're all racists aside, this is pretty much how I've always felt about them, and why I'm probably going to be giving my copy of Freedom Bondage to Was after giving it one more try. I was expecting a lot from it, but was never able to hear more than a fairly tedious chugga-chug Metal band impersonating early Swans.

I must admit i thought Z.G

I must admit i thought Z.G were really overrated at first. I heard 'Death Blows' in 95 and it blew me away but found the rest of F.B unlistenable. Didn't bother with them again until 2000, and then it all clicked. When '10,000 Light Years' came out, i ordered 'Desire For Agony' along with it, and the rest, as they say, is history. Can't say i'm huge on their pre-DFA material though.

Even for their "relaxed" album, it sounds like they are clutching at straws for the most of it to me.

I don't really know, Mo. I can't recommend the new Mars Volta, because I think it is dreadful. Mike Patton's soundtrack to Crank 2 is awesome though, get it if you see it!

Some people raved and others said it was mid-paced rubbish. I don't like mid paced rubbish bm. I'll pass.

I disagree with Hostile. '10,000 Light Years' is more out there than 'Freedom Bondage'. If you don't like F.B Was, give 10,000 L.Years a try next.

I am interested simply because ZG sound from their descriptions like what I might be into. I know they did an album called 'Alright, You Little Bastards', which is promising in itself. But it seems I'm cursed never to own an album of theirs. I ordered '10,000 Light Years' TWICE from reputable internet sellers that I have used before and since, and both times nada.
I'm going to dig out my copy of Freedom Bondage next time I go to Liverpool to give it one more try, and if it still doesn't click with me I'll see if anyone on here wants it.
If it doesn't click H-R, I am interested. Lemme know, sir.
