Mistakes In The Magazine

BUM! I have now made myself look a nit. Despite being a massive Metallica and Megadeth fan I didn't know that it was called The Mechanix while Mustaine was a member of Metallica. I thought he nicked the tune and wrote new lyrics to it when he started Megadeth. I promise to do my research next time. Honest!

kevin s-p here... in the 3IOB story i was referencing metallica's version of "the mechanix" as it appeared on the "no life 'til leather" demo. yeah, megadeth did "mechanix" on "killing is my business...", but the original version was a metallica w/mustaine song.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this already but in the 3 inches of blood article in the cxurrent issue of Terrorizer (188) Kevin Stewart-Panko credits the song Mechanix to Metallica and not Megadeth. I know it shares the same riff as the four horsemen but schoolboy error surely.

My least favourite grammar fail reared it's ineloquent head in the Mike IX Williams oral history, which claimed he "has been stood on sludge's soapbox for the past two decades". He has not been stood. He has been standing.

The things is, not only do I understand it, but I thought the very same thing when I spotted the mistake upon receiving my copy on Thursday.

This month's issue lists The Atrocity Exhibit as being from Sheffield and calls them "northerners" in the blurb. Wrongtimes.

This months cover promises a Choice Cuts feature on MUST MUST DIE. I was most disappointed to find a feature on the clearly totally over-hyped in comparison MAN MUST DIE, rather than a (probably) new up and coming similarly monikered band. Ohh wellll.

it's probably a bit irrational yes. but the above was a big mistake.

The review of Skullflower's "Malediction" album is in Retroaction yet it is a brand new album not a re-issue. It even says that in the actual text!

How did they sell out? To my knowledge they've always played their kind of music.

I spose the argument is you can read about Slipknot anywhere, while Tegs should arguably be the place where less well-known, dare I say more cult, bands get more of a chance to be heard. That's the niche that the mag was set up to fill. It's not quite so cut and dried now, though - as we've said many times, the metal mainstream in the 00s has assimilated many extreme bands, arguably because of Slipknot's success and influence. So do they stop being of interest to Tegs because of that? It's also important that when the 'extreme metal mainstream' bands are covered in Tegs, it's from an angle that other mags don't take. The Tegs Slipknot feature did that, though largely from the angle of justifying its own existence.
